MUMBAI – The stage is set for a monumental courtroom showdown as two ‘Jollys’ are set to lock horns in director Subhash Kapoor’s highly anticipated legal drama, Jolly LLB 3.

Advance booking collections for the film have been less than ideal, with figures currently struggling to cross the ₹1 crore mark. While industry trackers report pre-sales of around ₹74 lakh without block seats, the inclusion of block bookings pushes the total to just over ₹2 crore. This is a significant drop compared to the opening day collections of its predecessor, Jolly LLB 2, which earned ₹13 crore on its first day.

However, trade analysts are quick to point out that courtroom dramas and comedies often rely on positive word-of-mouth rather than strong advance bookings. Famous film critic Taran Adarsh too welcomed the film on box office

The one consolation for the makers is that Jolly LLB 3 is a courtroom drama-cum-comedy, a genre that does not depend too much on big advance bookings and openings. It is a film that can do well via word of mouth as well. For instance, Jolly LLB 2 also had single-digit advance bookings when it released in 2017. Yet, the film was able to collect ₹13 crore net on its opening day. Buoyed by solid word of mouth, the Akshay Kumar-starrer netted ₹117 crore in India and grossed ₹198 crore worldwide.
