New Delhi: Wearing a white kurta and a vibrant orange and green Rajasthani turban, newly elected Prime Minister Narendra Modi stood on the ramparts of the Red Fort for his first Independence Day address in 2014, introducing himself to the nation as an “outsider to Delhi.”

The speech set the tone for the transformation in governance and policy that has since become the hallmark of the Narendra Modi-led government — whether it be in ushering in new laws and decolonising British-era statutes, resetting foreign policy and the channels of communication, redrawing the strategy against both cross-border terrorism and Left Wing extremism, or creating a new paradigm on welfare and ease-of-living.

PM Narendra Modi who is currently serving his third term as the country’s leader, turned 75 today, September 17. His time in office has coincided with significant developments in the Indian stock market, making it a fitting moment to reflect on the market’s performance during this period.

Ahead of his first term, the market was rife with anticipation of reforms, but the scale of compounding has been larger than expected. From May-end (May 26, 2014), when he took oath, to today, September 2025, Nifty and Sensex have almost increased fourfold.

India’s healthcare system has undergone a remarkable transformation over the last eleven years, driven by strong political will, enhanced funding, and a commitment to providing affordable, accessible, equitable, and quality healthcare for all. ​ This journey reflects the unwavering focus of the Modi government on building a robust healthcare system that prioritizes the well-being of every citizen. ​

In 2014, India faced significant healthcare challenges, including gaps in infrastructure, trained human resources, availability of medicines and diagnostics, and service quality. ​Focused interventions under NHM have led to significant improvements in maternal and child health indicators. ​ According to the United Nations Maternal Mortality Estimation Inter-Agency Group (UN-MMEIG) report, India has demonstrated an 86% decline in MMR, nearly double the global average decline of 48%. India has also made remarkable strides in improving child health, significantly outpacing global averages. Infant Mortality has declined by 73% as against a global decline of 58% For its outstanding progress in reducing child mortality, India has been recognized as an exemplar at the global level.

Under the visionary leadership of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, Yoga has gained global recognition as a channel for wellness and social transformation. The United Nations’ decision to declare June 21 as International Day of Yoga in 2014 was the world’s recognition of India’s great spiritual and civilizational heritage.
