In an outrageous event in the Shahdol district of Madhya Pradesh, the BJP Municipal Council President Miusami Kevat was reported to have been attacked in a life-threatening act with a tractor. Luckily, she just managed to save her life with a demonstration of a cool mind. The incident occurred in the Amlai police station, which generated political tension in the region.
The reports show that the incident took place in Ward No. 1, Adivasi Mohalla of Bakho Nagar Parishad. Shakil, a tractor driver, is accused of trying to run over the BJP leader on political grounds. The assault occurred when Mausami Kevat was protesting against the unlawful blockage of a common road around her home. Shakil suddenly turned the tractor directly to her. The precocious Kevat sprung out of the car and escaped with her life, but suffered injuries to her leg. She was rushed to the local health centre of Dhanpuri immediately, and she is receiving treatment.
Invoking the fact that it was a political attack, BJP Chief Kevat held some council members and local people guilty of plotting her killing. She has requested Chief Minister, Dr. Mohan Yadav, to guarantee the safety of women representatives in the state and to take decisive action towards the perpetrators.
After the incident, a complaint was registered by the police, and investigations were launched. According to the in-charge of Amlai police station, J.P. Sharma, preliminary signs, according to him, indicate that the attack might have been related to a land dispute, although everything was in the preliminary stages.
BJP employees, on the other hand, have denounced the attack, terming it a pre-planned conspiracy. They wanted the arrest of those who had done so to be immediately made and stated that they were going to protest on a large scale in case justice was not served. The incident has not only brought about issues relating to political violence within the state, but also has led to the generation of debates concerning the safety of elected women leaders.
