On Monday morning, there was a big fire in the village of Dethal (within Kukdeshwar police station) in the Neemuch district in Madhya Pradesh. The fire erupted following leakage of LPG gas in the home of Sundarlal Nagda son Ramesh. The flames extend out of control within minutes and the house is destroyed, causing a lot of damage.
Luckily, everyone in the family could escape before it was too late to lose lives. But the fire became disastrous, when it burnt down almost all items in the house. The inferno began as reports state that it all began close to a car parked in the house that caught fire because of the leak. The fire spreads so fast to neighboring vehicles and household goods and leaves behind a trail of destruction.
During the incident, property with a value of more than 50 lakh was destroyed. The casualties were almost 5 lakh cash, 1 vehicle, 2 motorcycles, house holds appliances, food grains, and furniture. Also, more than 10 quintals of melon seeds, soybean produce, and wheat kept inside the house were burnt to ashes.
The severity of the fire posed enormous difficulties to firefighting activities. First, a single fire brigade arrived but the intensity of the fire was so high that a second group had to be summoned. Both fire brigades used almost two and a half to three hours of hard labor to control the fire.
The fire burnt the house to the ground and the family was devastated. Governments have started looking into the cause of this gas leakage that caused the disaster. In the meantime, the incident is a purely harsh reminder about the risks of LPG leakages and the significance of the timely security practices to avoid these tragedies.
