A popular Hindu festival that honours both Lord Vishnu and Goddess Lakshmi is Parivartini Ekadashi, which is celebrated on the eleventh day of the moon (Ekadashi), in the month of Bhadrapad. The Parivartini Ekadashi will fall on September 3, 2025, with a starting time of 4:54 AM until September 4, 2025, with a finishing time of 4:22 AM based on the Vedic calendar. This day is of great spiritual significance, and the devotees fast, perform rituals, and pray with alacrity.

This day is named Parivartini because it is believed that on this day, Lord Vishnu switches his posture during Yog Nidra (divine sleep). Because of this heavenly turn, the Ekadashi is referred to as Parivartini, but is also called Padma Ekadashi and Jaljhulni Ekadashi. The Padma Purana states that during this period, Lord Vishnu is in a contagious and loving posture, which fulfills the desires of pious followers. It is said that the observation of this Ekadashi will forgive sins and provide the same spiritual merit as the observation of a Vajapeya Yagna.

On this day, devotees of Lord Vishnu make special worship of him in his Vamana form, which is thought to bring happiness, prosperity, and good luck. According to one of the legends related to Jaljhulni Ekadashi, Goddess Yashoda bathed the baby Krishna in the river, which adds a touch of culture and history to the practice. Grand processions, in which idols or Shaligrams of Lord Vishnu are mounted on palanquins, accompanied by drumming and celebrations, draw huge crowds of followers.

Rituals also involve bathing in the morning and Panchamrit Abhishek- bathing the deity with curd, milk, ghee, sugar, and honey. They also pour Ganga water on the idol, sprinkle kumkum and akshata (grains of rice) on the idol, and recite the Panchakshari mantra, Om Namo Bhagavate Vasudevaya, preferably in a Tulsi mala. Evening prayers, aarti, and devotional bhajans or kirtans close the day.
