Today, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai hosted Mr. Jin Sik Yoon, Chairman and Mr. Kim Ki Hyun, Vice President of the Korea International Trade Association (KITA), in Seoul at a high-level conference. KITA is the largest trade organisation with more than 77,000 members in South Korea and is among the oldest trade organisations in Asia, which facilitates business partnerships.
CM Sai also pointed out the rich natural resources, skilled workforce, and the investment climate in Chhattisgarh during the meeting, referring to the state’s Industrial Policy 2024-30. He had in-depth talks with KITA management on areas to collaborate on, such as investing, transfer of technology and skill development programmes. CM Sai said, “Our relationship with South Korea is not limited to trade; it boils down to culture and a common past. This dialogue has opened the way to cooperation that will help jump-start the industrial development and give the young people of Chhattisgarh significant opportunities in the modern industry.”
The Chief Minister assured KITA that the state government was still absolutely committed to providing an enabling environment to investors, such as expedited clearances, strong support infrastructure and support for regulatory. He was optimistic that collaboration with KITA and other Korean firms would make Chhattisgarh a global industrial centre.
The KITA chairman, Jin Sik Yoon, and vice president, Kim Ki Hyun, showed keen interest in the investor-friendly policies and the rich resources of the state. They observed that Korean companies are keen to venture into areas like food processing, electronics, automobiles, steel and renewable energy. Real actions towards cooperation will be seen in the near future.
CM Sai highlighted that these alliances will have a direct positive impact on farmers, workers and local entrepreneurs. Investments will also generate thousands of jobs, and technology transfer projects will make local industries more competitive and of high quality. He put it further stated that the partnership with Korean firms will also make it easier to train the youth of Chhattisgarh in skills and technical training so as to enhance the state.
