Speaking at a rally in Muzaffarpur in Bihar on Wednesday, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin said that RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav is walking in the legacies of his father, Lalu Prasad Yadav, one of the most powerful political personas in the country. Lalu Yadav is a fearless leader who never bowed before the BJP, a news agency has quoted Stalin, a deep friend of his late father, DMK veteran M. Karunanidhi. He said that Tejashwi follows the same path as his father did, but he is motivated by the legacy his father left behind.
Stalin was in Bihar to accompany Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on his ongoing Voter Adhikar Yatra ahead of its upcoming assembly elections. Among the prominent leaders of the INDIA bloc who joined the rally were DMK lawmaker Kanimozhi, Congress party leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, the CPI(ML) general secretary Dipankar Bhattacharya, and RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav. The show of solidarity is amid rumours that Tejashwi may not be officially anointed the chief ministerial candidate in Bihar by the alliance.
Stalin also reproached the Election Commission of India (ECI) over the deletion of nearly 65 lakh names in Bihar as a part of the Special Intensive Revision exercise in his address. He termed the deletions as being worse than terrorism, saying that it was meant to favor the BJP. As Congress has done in its accusations of mass vote theft, Stalin cautioned that democracy is threatened by a lack of assurances of free and fair elections.
The DMK chief also praised Rahul Gandhi, stating that he could not be cowed down. Stalin, referring to Rahul and Tejashwi, who often are seen on motorcycles, had said that their friendship goes beyond politics, and this is a real friendship. He said that there was no doubt that with a transparent process of election, the INDIA bloc would rout the BJP-led NDA in Bihar.
