Union Minister Kiren Rijiju on Tuesday posted a tweet informing that his team was able to rescue two individuals after their vehicle submerged in a river in Ladakh. Rijiju, who was to return to Drass, said the accident took place a little before his convoy. His fire team was fast enough to get there before the occupants were killed.
The minister took the rescue operation video to the social media platform X. In that clip, one could see the two people standing on the half-immersed car that was floating on the river. One can hear rescue personnel request a rope, whilst Rijiju himself is captured talking to the survivors to calm them down by asking them whether they had experienced a problem with the brakes or not. Both men were successfully brought to safety, and the situation potentially turned tragic, was prevented.
Earlier, on Monday, Rijiju also marked the cordial welcome he received throughout his trip to Sonmarg in Jammu and Kashmir. He thanked the administrations of the districts of Ganderbal and Kargil and said the hospitality he received was a true mark of the inclusive culture of kindness in the valley. He was especially grateful that his guide, Mohammad Sidiq Mir, was with him, and together they had an unforgettable experience.
Talking about the ethos of the Kashmiri people, the Union Minister said that the people of the valley are vehemently against violence and would like to see peace and development. “Ordinary citizens of Kashmir are fantastic hosts, and they detest the violence done by the enemies,” he said.
Rijiu also added to the fact that development programs that have continued to be executed in the region have created a promising future for the Kashmir people. His utterances reflect on both the difficulties and robustness of the individuals in the valley, along with the endeavours of the government that work to enhance peace and growth in Jammu and Kashmir.
