In a strongly worded message, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, addressing a gathering in Jodhpur, Rajasthan, on Monday, underlined that India’s armed forces plied on the principle of fairness and not on religion. Citing the terror attack in Pahalgam this year, that near 26 of the victims belonged to the tourism sector, Singh told reporters that terrorists specifically created targets by asking questions to gain information to make selections on the basis of names and religion. “Our troops, however, did not kill terrorists on the basis of religion but on the basis of action,” said Panetta. His remarks were in the backdrop of the operation Sindoor carried out by India after India on retaliatory.
According to Rajnath Singh, the plan of the operation was well thought out, and the targets identified beforehand by the Indian forces got very precise hits. He termed the action as a befitting response to Pakistan; the military and the political establishment of Pakistan were responsible for finger-pointing at the Pahalgam attack. The minister was in Jodhpur to inaugurate the defence and sports academy and also honour the family members of soldiers, where he also praised the sacrifices being made by the armed forces.
The National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) has, in the recent past, come out with special learning modules on Operation Sindoor, which will be taught in schools to students of Classes 3 to 12. The additional modules, offered in English and Hindi, are aimed at informing children about the operation of counter-terrorism in India, emphasising the topics of courage, pride, and tranquility. With younger students (Classes 3 to 8), the title will be Operation Sindoor: A Saga of Valour; however, older students (Classes 9 to 12) will learn about Operation Sindoor: A Mission of Honour and Bravery.
The modules have maps of targeted sites, captured photographs of destroyed Pakistani drones and make references to the advanced air defence systems of India like S-400 that intercepted and neutralised enemy threats. It was stressed by NCERT that these resources do not constitute textbooks.
