In Madhya Pradesh, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) experienced a tremendous political blow when the President of the Susner Municipal Council, Laxmi Sisodiya, resigned her membership to the BJP and went ahead to join the Congress. Together with her, many BJP workers have also quit that party and switched to the Congress, indicating a change in the political landscape. The formal induction was done under the leadership of Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) Chief Jitu Patwari, who inducts all the new people into the family of the Congress.
The political move took place in Susner, Agar Malwa district, as Laxmi Sisodiya, a well-known BJP leader on the local governance front, broke up with the saffron outfit. Her transfer, coupled with a cheering section of supportive workers in the BJP, has been considered a plus to the Congress as the two political battles in the state unfold. In welcoming her and the workers, Patwari stated that she was confident that this shift marks the new beginning of the Susner people. He stressed that Congress will be highly committed to providing interests to the population and serve the people of the region diligently.
This induction was done in the presence of Susner MLA Bhairav Singh Bapu, under whose leadership the Congress party has continued gaining strength in the constituency. Patwari lauded the move of Laxmi and her supporters, which he remarked would give a boost to the grassroots campaign of the Congress. He also emphasized that this step is a “knell of a democratic engagement” in Susner, as people are falling in line towards the vision of Congress on how to govern.
To further emphasize the same, Patwari welcomed Laxmi Rahul Sisodiya in the Congress party, affirming that the Congress will continue to work to benefit the people and uphold transparent politics. The defection is being viewed as a morale booster to Congress and one of the major concerns to the BJP as far as political dynamics are concerned in Madhya Pradesh.
