Rajasthan News: Continuous heavy rains in Rajasthan have caused havoc. The Chambal river is flowing above the danger mark, while four gates of the Parvati dam have been opened. Flood-like conditions have arisen in many areas, including eastern Rajasthan, resulting in dozens of villages losing contact with their headquarters.

A record 500 mm rain was recorded in Nainwa of Bundi, while 270 mm rain was recorded in Digod of Kota and 240 mm rain was recorded in Anta and Baran city of Baran district. Heavy rain has also affected life in Tonk, Bundi, Karauli and Jaipur. The Meteorological Department has issued an alert of heavy rain till August 29.

Due to the heavy inflow of water from the Karauli and Dang regions in Parvati Dam, the water level reached 223.20 meters. Water Resources Department has released 4500 cusecs of water from the dam. Nearly two dozen villages of Rajakheda can be affected by the Chambal flood, due to which people have been advised to move to safer places. Sheets of water are flowing on Sapau-Bari, Maloni Khurd, Sakhwara and Thekuli patta roads, due to which the administration has stopped traffic. The effect of rain is less in Dholpur, but the administration is on high alert due to the rise of the Chambal river in Hadauti and Karauli.

Colonies submerged in Gangapur City, highway closed

The situation has also gone out of control in Gangapur City and the surrounding areas. Many colonies in Batoada Talwara and Barnala towns have been submerged in water. The state highway from Sawai Madhopur to Gangapur has been closed. In the last 24 hours, 38 mm of rain was recorded in Gangapur, causing pedestrians and vehicles considerable trouble.
