An Air India flight had to abort its takeoff on Friday at Mumbai airport after the pilot-in-command and the co-pilot of the flight decided to abort their takeoff due to an operational issue, the airline said. The accident happened on the takeoff roll when the pilot in command and the first pilot realized that there was a problem and, in accordance with the norms of operating the onboard products, they interrupted the takeoff and returned the ship to the base.
A spokesperson of the airline said alternative arrangements were made very fast to help passengers continue their journey to Jodhpur without much inconvenience. Flight AI645, which flew between Mumbai and Jodhpur on 22 August, was forced to go back to the bay because of an operational problem. The cockpit crew made the decision to abandon the run after checking in line with safety procedures, the spokesperson said.
This event occurred after a recent disruption that was experienced by the airline experienced earlier. On August 17, Air India Zurich-Delhi flight (AI152) was cancelled on the basis of a technical reason that later cumulated into cancellation as a result of strict curfew regulations outlawing flights at night in Zurich. The airline reported that passengers who were affected received alternatives in the form of flight alternatives, hotel stays, full refunds, or rescheduling them free of charge in order to reduce the inconveniences.
The Zurich disruption occurred just days after Air India reported it had carried out an in-depth examination of its fleet of 787s and declared that no safety concerns had been identified. In spite of this, technical difficulties have persisted to hit its activities, reflecting the complicacies of managing a global fleet.
Air India, which is owned by the Tata Group, has been in the process of restructuring its operations, including the fleet and service solutions. Although passenger care and safety-first operations were taken with due care in both Mumbai-Jodhpur and Zurich-Delhi flight episodes, the airliner is under pressure to ensure a smoother operation, as it tries to establish itself as an internationally competitive carrier.
