Jodhpur: Ahead of Independence day, the BSF foiled another attempt by drug smugglers on the India-Pakistan international border in Jodhpur district of Rajasthan. Late Monday night, vigilant soldiers in Khajuana area seized 1.6 kg of heroin sent by drone, which is worth more than Rs 7 crore in the international market.

The operation was conducted under the supervision of DIG (Regional Headquarters, Bikaner) Ajay Luthra, DIG (Intelligence Branch, Jodhpur) Dhananjay Mishra, 96th Battalion Commandant Abhimanyu Jha, and Jat.

According to BSF IG Madanlal Garg, this consignment was dropped at around 1:30 am from Pakistan via a drone, about two and a half kilometres inside the border. The soldiers immediately cordoned off the area, recovered the packets and started investigation. He said that drug smuggling from Pakistan is a big challenge, especially in Ganganagar, Bikaner, and Punjab of Rajasthan, but the vigilance of the BSF foils the conspiracy of the smugglers every time.

The anti-drone system present with the BSF has shot down smugglers’ drones many times. Where it is not possible to shoot down the drone, the soldiers immediately reach the spot and seize the consignment. Timely information received from the local people also proves to be important in this action.

Big seizures have been made before
