Furthermore, IMD has issued a red alert in Delhi, including North Delhi, West Delhi, South Delhi, South East Delhi, and Central Delhi, for very heavy rainfall accompanied by lightning and thunderstorms.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast thunderstorms with rain in Delhi for Saturday. The minimum temperature is expected to be around 27°C and the maximum around 36°C. The weather department has issued an alert for the rain on August 13 and 14.

Rising Water Levels of Yamuna

This has added the miseries of the people living in the low lying areas. The government has now asked them to move to higher ground as the water level of the river surpassed the “warning” mark of 204.5 metres on Thursday morning and rose to 205 metres by evening. As of 8 pm, the water level was at 205.05 metres. The water level breached the warning mark at 5am, officials said.

The irrigation and flood control (I&FC) department will commence evacuation when the water level breaches the 206-metre mark, officials said. The secretary (revenue) and director (civil defence), in an order, asked all district magistrates to deploy 65 civil defence volunteers in each district as part of Flood Action Plan 2025.
