Sagar: On late Friday night in Sagar district of Madhya Pradesh, a passenger bus turned turtle near the Satthiya Valley on the Shahgarh police station, falling under the Heerapur police out-post. One passenger was killed and 17 others injured in the mishap.

As per the authorities, the bus, which met with the accident with registration number as MP 21 P 0786, belongs to Sing Travels, which was on its way to Damoh after picking passengers at Chhatarpur. According to the report, the vehicle lost control as it swerved on its way through the dashing ramps of Sathiya Valley at Heerapur and tumbled down, bringing confusion and panic among the occupants therein.

When information of the accident came, Heerapur outpost in-charge Arvind Singh Thakur came with his team to the spot. They quickly brought the injured using ambulances to the Shahgarh Health Centre. A diagnosis left doctors in a tragic situation as they reported one of the passengers dead.

The Suicide victim has been identified as 30-year-old Damodar Singh of Batiyagarh. On the injured list, Ramaa Asati of Damoh has been seriously injured, and her hand is reported to be injured in the accident. Her serious condition allowed her to be urgently directed to a district hospital in order to receive more complex treatment.

The other injured passengers are admitted to the local health centre. Initial inquiries indicate that it was as a result of the driver losing control of the bus on the sharp bend of the valley. The government will most probably conduct a thorough investigation to establish any cases of negligence or mechanical fault.

This unfortunate accident again brings to the fore the requirement of stronger means of safety as well as road infrastructure, particularly in hilly or accident-prone regions like Sathiya Valley.
