In a tragic twist of events, former state-level tennis player Radhika Yadav was killed by her own father, Deepak Yadav, on Thursday, when he shot her at their home in Gurugram in Sushant Lok. On Saturday, police disclosed that Radhika did not actually have a tennis academy as it was previously reported but she used to book tennis courts in different places to train the aspiring players- an arrangement which was vehemently opposed by her father.

Radhika was told to have been preparing a meal when she was shot by Deepak. Although the initial rumours made professional jealousy or her participation in a music video the obvious answers, the police have now shed some light to add that the motive was because of an existing family feud revolving around her tennis training.

Inspector Vinod Kumar of police station Sector 56 said, Deepak had requested Radhika several times to leave the tennis training, but she did not obey his words in spite of his protests. It was the main conflict source.” It has also been confirmed by the police that Deepak had been having emotional problems in the recent weeks, and this was particularly because he had been taunted by close associates who used to tease him that he was living off the earnings of his daughter. Nevertheless, police figured out that Deepak was financially stable with his continued income through rental properties, and he was not in need of Radhika.

Responding to the viral rumours, the authorities have also excluded the possibility of a link between Radhika’s murder and a music video in which she appears, which went viral after her death. Inspector Kumar clarified, “The video has been uploaded in 2023 and has no connection with the incidence.”

Even though the tragedy happened, intimately related family members argue that Deepak had acted as a resolute supporter of Radhika with regard to her tennis career since her childhood, which made the episode all the more staggering. Deepak admitted his guilt and was produced before the court on Friday, after which he was remanded to one-day police custody. Research is being carried out.
