Air India Plane Crash Report: The Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) has released a preliminary report on the fatal June 12 Air India Boeing 787-8 flight that departed Ahmedabad for London. AAIB released a 15-page report revealing the reason behind the crash that tragically killed 260 people onboard. According to the AAIB preliminary report, both the aircraft engines shut down within seconds after take-off.

Furthermore, the investigation indicated that the fuel cutoff switches for Engine 1 and Engine 2 moved from the ‘RUN’ to ‘CUToff’ position within just one second of each other. While both engines briefly recovered thrust, they ultimately failed to stabilise, leading to a catastrophic accident.

Both engines were retrieved from the wreckage site and quarantined at a hangar in the airport,” the AAIB report said. “Components of interest for further examinations have been identified and quarantined,” it said.
