Mumbai: FMCG powerhouse Hindustan Unilever Ltd (HUL) has announced the appointment of Priya Nair as its new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Managing Director (MD) for a five-year term, effective August 1, 2025. Nair’s elevation as the new CEO of Hindustan Unilever marks a significant moment in HUL’s 92-year history, as she becomes the first woman to lead the Indian consumer goods giant.

Priya Nair is currently serving as President, Beauty & Wellbeing at Unilever, will succeed Rohit Jawa, who is stepping down on July 31. The company formally announced its decision to transform leadership on Thursday.

Priya Nair CEO will also be joining the HUL Board, pending necessary approvals, and will continue to be a member of the Unilever Leadership Executive (ULE), underscoring her continued strategic importance within the broader Unilever group.

HUL Chairman Nitin Paranjpe expressed strong confidence in Nair’s capabilities, stating, “Priya has had an outstanding career in HUL and Unilever. I am certain that with her deep understanding of the Indian market and excellent track record, Priya will take HUL to the next level of performance.”

Priya Nair HUL journey began in 1995, where she has consistently risen through the ranks, holding diverse and impactful roles across sales and marketing in the home care, beauty & wellbeing, and personal care segments. Her extensive experience includes serving as Executive Director, Home Care, HUL (2014-2020) and Executive Director, Beauty & Personal Care, HUL (2020-2022), before transitioning to her global leadership roles at Unilever. Since 2023, she has successfully led Unilever’s Beauty & Wellbeing division, one of the company’s fastest-growing businesses globally.

Rohit Jawa, who became HUL MD and CEO in 2023, is attributed with steering the company through tough market situations and driving volume-driven competitive growth. His term witnessed the roll out of the aspire strategy, centered on reshaping the portfolio and channels towards high-demand spaces. HUL Chairman Nitin Paranjpe sent a message of thanks to Jawa for his efforts in building the company’s foundation.
