He completed his century in 199 balls and this century was special for his career. Gill has become the fifth Indian batsman to score a century in three consecutive Test matches against England. He has become the third Indian captain to score a century in two consecutive Tests against England. Earlier, this feat was achieved by Vijay Hazare and Mohammad Azharuddin.
