Addressing the centenary celebrations of Jain spiritual leader Acharya Vidyanand Maharaj in Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi, on Saturday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi once again made it clear that India was not compromising on its fight against terrorism. According to a lively atmosphere between the PM and the audience, Modi added, “Jo hume chhedega…” which the crowd followed by shouting slogans and completing the sentence. Modi replied with a smile, saying, “I did not even mention half of the sentence, you did, and that pointed out the collective feeling of the nation that is powerful against outside attacks.”

The ceremony, the occasion of commencing a two-year-long celebration of Acharya Vidyanand Maharaj’s centenary, was used by PM Modi as an opportunity to re-examine the issues that India faced even internally, although he did not skip the chance to reiterate the progress that the nation had made. He cited Operation Sindoor, a proactive measure against terrorism that India conducted after the terror attack on Pahalgam that led to the death of 26 people in the early hours of May 7. Without uttering it, perhaps you were blessing Operation Sindoor, Modi stated later, paying homage to the silent support shown by the community.

Some of the important resolutions made again by PM Modi were to form an India of sustainability, self-reliance, and prosperity. These were water conservation, plantation of trees, cleanliness campaigns, usage of local goods, domestic travel, organic farming, healthy lifestyle, yoga and sports and aiding the poor.

He honoured Acharya Vidyanand Maharaj, who had happened to be one of the greatest contributors to Jain philosophy, like designing the official Jain flag and emblem, the restoration of ancient Jain temples and the resurrection of the Prakrit language. The celebration of a hundred years that will be celebrated till the 22nd of April 2026 will entail various cultural, educational, literary, and spiritual activities nationwide, the Union Ministry of Culture has announced. The first gathering also included spiritual figures, Jain Acharyas, MPs and academicians.
