Whereas Delhi-NCR is still anticipating its first full-scale monsoon rain, other parts of India are battered by heavy showers and weather alerts that have caused the India Meteorological Department (IMD) to put several regions under orange alert. Those that were affected are Uttarakhand, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Kerala, and certain areas of Jammu and Kashmir, and there were isolated warnings on other areas as well.
In Uttarakhand, heavy rains have led to disturbances with the Badrinath National Highway, which is the lifeline of pilgrims going to Kedarnath and Badrinath shrines, getting blocked near Nandprayag and Bhanerpani. The obstruction was later confirmed by the Chamoli Police, who added that a clearance of the debris is underway so that the route can be restored. The ever-rainy state starts with landslides, and it turns out to be a common danger of every monsoon season in this hilly state.
Meanwhile, an orange alert has been sounded in five districts of Kerala, including Pathanamthitta, Kottayam, Idukki, Malappuram, and Wayanad. The Idukki district has ahead of time evacuated more than 3,200 people living in low-lying places and prone to flooding conditions.
In Jammu and Kashmir, the orange alert has already been imposed after the sharp increase in the water level of the Chenab River caused by the constant heavy precipitation. To avoid such untoward incidents, the Ramban district administration has issued advisories stating that people are not allowed to move around the river.
On the other hand, Delhi-NCR could also see light to moderate rain belonged to today and tomorrow, as IMD has placed a yellow alert concerning this region. Delhi on Saturday saw a low of 28.7 degrees mercury, and the temperature is supposed to remain at 37 degrees Celsius on Saturday. Thunderstorms that come along with showers are likely to offer reprieve from the heat during the weekend.
