The case of the chilling honeymoon murder in Meghalaya is still on its course of revealing, with two more people being arrested last night, and the total number of people arrested in this case now stands at seven. In the case of the murder of Raja Raghuvanshi, Meghalaya Police Special Investigation Team (SIT) had arrested a property dealer and a watchman who were suspected of helping Sonam Raghuvanshi, the prime accused, who had killed the husband.
In the district of Dewas, the police officer caught a property dealer, Silome James, on Saturday evening around Bhonrasa toll gate, where he was trying to escape to Bhopal. Sonam is said to rent a building in Heera Bagh colony, Indore and that it was rented by James. SP Vivek Syiem of the East Khasi Hills said Sonam had kept jewellery, a laptop, and other properties in the flat, which was claimed afterwards after the murder of her husband. Police believe that there was also a gun in the box, and it might be associated with her alleged boyfriend, Raj Kushwaha. It was later destroyed to hide evidence, and the box was destroyed after that.
After arresting the first accused, an early Sunday morning, Balvir Ahirwar, a watchman and a carpenter, was arrested in the village of his origin in the Ashok Nagar district. The Balvir was said to be employed at the Indore apartment where Sonam had gone to hide after the incident. Inverifying the action by Ashoknagar SP Vineet Kumar Jain clarified that Shillong police had reached Shadora and had taken away Balvir along with them to Indore so that further questioning could be carried out.
Both suspects were made to appear before a local court at Indore and are under seven-day transit custody of the Meghalaya Police to continue the investigation. Policemen feel that the two individuals were instrumental in assisting Sonam to escape arrest and eliminate some of the most significant pieces of evidence. The killings have created a case that has not ended yet, since police are digging more into the network behind the killings.
