NILAMBUR: The political landscape of Kerala is keenly watching the unfolding by-election results 2025 for the Nilambur Assembly seat, with the United Democratic Front (UDF) expressing strong hopes as counting progressed into the fourth round. The bypolls, held on June 19, saw the Nilambur constituency record an impressive 73.26 percent voter turnout, making it the highest among the five assembly seats that went to the polls across India.
As per early trends from the Election Commission of India (ECI), the UDF is reportedly gaining ground, with particular emphasis on their performance in Moothedam panchayat. A strong showing in key panchayats like Moothedam is crucial for the UDF to secure a decisive lead. The counting of votes is underway at Mar Thoma Government Higher Secondary School, Chungathara.
The Nilambur election result 2025 is being widely perceived as a significant precursor to the upcoming assembly elections in Kerala next year. For the Congress, it holds considerable prestige, especially since the Nilambur seat falls within Priyanka Gandhi Vadra’s Wayanad Lok Sabha constituency. Her active campaigning in the region underscored the importance the party has attached to this contest.

The by-election was necessitated by the resignation of PV Anvar, a two-time winner who previously enjoyed Left backing before aligning with the Congress and eventually entering the fray as an independent under the TMC banner. His unpredictable candidacy has added a complex layer to the electoral battle.
The Congress has fielded Aryadan Shoukath, son of veteran leader and former MLA Aryadan Mohammed, aiming to reclaim a seat historically associated with his family. The ruling Left Democratic Front (LDF) has put forward M Swaraj, a prominent state secretariat member, signaling their determination to retain the constituency.
Beyond Kerala, other by election results are also being declared today, including Visavadar election result 2025 in Gujarat. The overall outcomes will be closely watched as a reflection of the public mood ahead of upcoming state elections across the country. The ECI result portal is the go-to source for real-time updates as the vote counting continues.
