Once again, Air India is in news, and for all the wrong reasons. After the Air India flight crash in Ahmedabad, there have been continuous complaints about many of the company’s flights. Sometimes it had to return mid-way due to technical problems and sometimes an emergency landing had to be made after a bomb blast threat. The latest case is of an Air India flight going from San Francisco to Mumbai. The plane had to land at the Kolkata airport due to a technical fault in the flight. There was a fault in the engine of Air India flight coming from San Francisco to Mumbai, after which the passengers had to be disembarked.
Actually, flight number AI180 was going to Mumbai via Kolkata. The Boeing 777-200LR (Worldliner) aircraft arrived in Kolkata on time at 12:45 a.m. on June 17. It was to depart for Mumbai at 2:00 am. The takeoff was delayed due to a technical fault in the left engine of the plane. After this, at around 5:20 am, the captain asked the passengers to get off the plane. He stated that this decision was made with flight safety in mind.
Air India flight AI180 departed from San Francisco airport as scheduled. However, when it arrived at Kolkata airport at 12:45 am, its left engine developed a technical fault. More than four hours later, at 5:20 am, it was told that all the passengers would have to disembark from the plane.
