Ahmedabad Plane Crash: A day after the fatal plane crash in Ahmedabad, the black box of the Air India aircraft was found on the rooftop of the medical hostel into which the plane had crashed. The Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) has launched a full-scale investigation into the crash, with over 40 staff from the Gujarat State Government joining efforts to support the Ministry of Civil Aviation teams on the ground. 

Both American and British investigation teams were deployed to support the India-led investigation. On the other hand, the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) has ramped up its emergency response, increasing the number of deployed teams at the crash site to seven. 

Aviation watchdog DGCA has ordered an enhanced safety inspection of Air India’s Boeing 787 Dreamliner fleet.

The inspection is to include checks of various systems and a review of take-off parameters of the Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft of Air India, owned by Tata Group.

An inspection of cabin air compressor and associated systems, electronic engine control system test, engine fuel driven actuator-operational test, and oil system checks have also been ordered.

Earlier on Friday, In a video message, Campbell Wilson, CEO & MD, Air India says: “All of us at Air India are devastated by this loss and grieve for those affected, their families and their loved ones. Air India’s advanced team of nearly 100 caregivers and 40 engineers has now arrived in Ahmedabad.” 

He adds: “The technical team is now helping at the site and the caregivers are providing support to families. Many more caregivers are travelling to Ahmedabad to provide further support.”

Amit Shah Hold Review Meeting

Union Home Minister Amit Shah held a meeting in the wake of the deadly Air India plane crash in Gujarat and obtained detailed information regarding the entire incident.

In this meeting, Shah reviewed the rescue and relief operations and issued necessary instructions to the concerned officials. CM Bhupendrabhai Patel, Union Minister CR Patil, Union Minister Kinjarapu Ram Mohan Naidu, and Union Minister of State (MoS) Muralidhar Mohol also joined the meeting.

Shah also said that from DNA sample collection for the deceased and their families, to identification, and the safe return of mortal remains to their respective homes, would be fully supported by the government.
