Based on an official order issued June 4, Ashwani Lohani, who used to be Air India’s CEO and the Railway Board’s head, has been chosen to lead the Prime Minister’s Museum and Library. He was appointed by the government, and his rank and pay level are that of a Secretary to the Government of India. He will be appointed for three years from the date he begins, and the assignment can last even longer with further notice.

Lohani, who is from the 1980 batch of the IRSME, is known for his excellent administration and leadership in the public sector. Known by many for his skills in leading organisations in challenging times, he served as the chairman of Indian Railways and Air India during tough periods.

Apart from his senior roles, Ashwani Lohani has achieved many outstanding things during his career. Because he has four engineering degrees—mechanical, electrical, metallurgical and electronics and telecommunication—from the Institution of Engineers (India) in Kolkata, he was entered into the Limca Book of Records. He got into the Guinness Book of World Records by successfully bringing back and working on the ‘Fairy Queen,’ the oldest working steam locomotive.

Inside the famous Teen Murti Bhavan, the Prime Minister’s Museum and Library safeguards a collection of information and exhibits about the nation’s prime ministers. Recently, the way the PMML Society governs the institution was modified. Narendra Modi is the president and Rajnath Singh is the vice-president of the society in India. Famous personalities such as Smriti Irani, Shekhar Kapur and Syed Ata Hasnain are among the others who are involved. Right now, the executive council is headed by former principal secretary Nripendra Misra.
