Six days later, heavy rains in Arunachal Pradesh caused 11 documented deaths, including that of a labourer named Bhaben Murmu, killed by a landslide event. State Emergency Operation Centre reports that three GREF personnel were hurt during the incident.
Across the state, the floods have hurt 938 residents in 156 villages of 23 districts, and there is extensive damage everywhere. Out of all, Lower Subansiri is the worst affected, where the destruction of 114 kutcha houses, 45 pucca houses, and nine huts is seen. Some areas of the district also saw extensive damage to roads, power, water, and school structures.
Both the Itanagar Capital Region and Pakke Kessang have major problems with public infrastructure, including a damaged main water pipeline and damaged roads along Dariya Hill. West Kameng, Kamle, Lower and Upper Subansiri, Papum Pare, Dibang Valley, Lower Dibang Valley, Lohit, Changlang, Kra Daadi, Kurung Kumey, and Longding are all experiencing floods and landslides, and their rivers are above danger levels.
About 15 hectares of crops, eight hectares of plantation, and seven hectares of land for agriculture are being damaged. Half of the Makantong bridge on the Trans-Arunachal Highway has been damaged by the floods from Buri-Dihin, which have cut off the road to Bordumsa and made the Miao subdivision largely inaccessible.
Efforts to help those suffering are still going on. Alubari Government Secondary School is currently housing 59 people who are now homeless. As reported by Disaster Management Secretary Dani Sulu, so far, 18 people have been saved, among them are 14 workers from Lower Dibang Valley and four local residents from Lohit district.
