Rahul Gandhi, the Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha, will arrive in Bhopal and launch the Congress party’s Srujan Abhiyan there. The state branch of the party seems very excited about his presence, as most top members are at the Bhopal airport to greet him. Among the leaders at the airport are Arun Yadav, Arif Masood and Vikrant Bhuria, who are all MLAs, as well as former ministers P.C. Sharma and Kantilal Bhuria.

At about 10:15 AM, Rahul Gandhi’s plane is expected to land, and then he will go to the Madhya Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) right away. From 11:00 AM, a meeting schedule will begin that involves important decisions. The first meeting will be a Political Affairs Committee held on the third floor of the PCC office. After that, party MPs and MLAs will have a closed-door meeting on the first floor from 12:00 to 12:30 PM.

From 12:30 PM to 1:30 PM, Rahul will talk to observers from the All India Congress Committee (AICC) and PCC coordinators in the PCC auditorium. 61 such observers are part of the process, and they include seasoned leaders from Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, Maharashtra, Jharkhand, Assam and Andhra Pradesh. Among them are former ministers as well as sitting or former MPs and MLAs, together with other senior officials.

In the afternoon between 2:30 PM and 4:00 PM, Ravindra Bhawan will host a large group of delegates from the AICC, the PCC, district leaders and block presidents. Rahul Gandhi will leave Bhopal at 4:20 PM.

Part of Srujan Abhiyan is to assess the party’s strength in every assembly seat and distinguish between loyalists and those generating disadvantages for Congress. Party leaders are determined to take punitive action against anyone harming the party’s interests.
