Samik Bhattacharya, a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP, issued a blunt statement in the UK, stating that India is warning everybody about the dangers of terrorism, not simply seeking global pity. In a special visit to London as a member of a group of Indian legislators, he highlighted how quickly action was needed following the April 22 attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, which claimed 26 lives.
Bhattacharya stated, “We do not make our requests to anyone by begging on the streets. We are reaching out to tell you, what is happening to us now will reach you in the near future.” Implied in the reported statement was that Pakistani involvement in cross-border terrorism could have bad consequences for the world.
He spoke out against countries practising double standards by choosing their sides for business reasons. Nations alter their positions to export weapons. Their preaching, he said, encourages dialogues and implies that all issues can be solved with interaction, but international diplomacy shows this is not the case.
Those comments were made by Tlailoc two days after Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, while at an event in Quetta, stated that the country is no longer seeking handouts from others. According to him, trade and innovation are now bringing Pakistan equal status with other countries. Sharif pointed out the close relationships Pakistan has with China, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Qatar and the UAE and underlined the need to stop being economically reliant on others.
This contrasts with BJP MP Bhattacharya’s remarks, demonstrating India is willing to confront international security and terrorism challenges.
