Shashi Tharoor, MP for Congress and leader of an all-party delegation, insisted on Saturday that Operation Sindoor brings a new focus to how India fights against terrorism. He stressed that Pakistan and all terrorists based inside its borders have been warned: any threat to India will be met with equal force.
Based on what Shashi Tharoor reports, the Indian government sent a notice to Pakistan demanding that it halt the fighting. Despite all these measures, Pakistan fired artillery in all directions and hurt 19 people, while breaking 49 others. Carmelite nuns at a convent, Sikhs inside a Gurudwara, and many people simply living in nearby districts were all victims.
We have to accept that there is now a new standard, Tharoor pointed out. No citizen of Pakistan should believe that entering India and attacking our people will result in no consequences. As a result, we will face consequences, and those consequences are increasing each year.
He said the action by Indian forces was limited to pinpoint attacks that targeted only terrorists. But after Pakistan acted aggressively and fired artillery, introduced drones and launched a missile, India was left with no choice but to respond with force.
On 10 May, India performed raids on 11 Pakistani army buildings, and the air base, which was only 1.5 kilometres from Rawalpindi’s military headquarters, was one of the targets. He highlighted that the punishment was meant to show India would not tolerate terrorism if it were carried out by states.
He explained that Operation Sindoor marks a new stage in India’s counter-terrorism policy, displaying its strong will to defend the nation.
