Gariaband: A case of giving wrong report by doing fake geo tagging of houses being built under PM Awas Yojana has come to light in Gariaband district of Chhattisgarh. In Devbhog and Mainpur district area, field workers did online geo tagging of many incomplete houses by showing their work as complete. In fact, in the last 15 days, 1366 houses were declared complete, while the condition of more than 400 of these houses is doubtful.

More than 20 beneficiaries like Sundar Singh of Jhakharpara, Parmeshwar Singh of Dahigaon whose houses were declared completed after this date did not even have the roofs cast but their houses were declared complete by 15 May and geo-tagged online. Yad Ram’s house of Dahigaon did not even reach the door label but its picture has been shown as complete by placing it in someone else’s house so that the administration can be misled.

Investigation has revealed that the same house was shown in the name of two beneficiaries. For example, in Puranapani village, geo tagging of Chuman Lal and Jai Singh was done in the same house. This was shown in the reports of about 30 beneficiaries. Similarly, in Jhakharpara also, one house was shown to belong to two different beneficiaries by taking photographs from different angles. This kind of cover-up has been done in most of the reports showing the progress of the last 15 days.

After the strict instructions of the CM, the district administration had increased monitoring of housing progress. Fearing show-cause notice, many field workers prepared and submitted bogus reports of progress. According to the report, on May 1, 2700 houses were unstarted in Devbhog block, which decreased to 2157 by May 15. At the same time, the number of completed houses increased from 1200 to 1658. The figures of second and third installments released also increased. But the ground reality is different from this.
