Recruitment activities for Civil Judge (Junior Division – Entry Level) positions have been allowed to resume in Madhya Pradesh after the High Court lifted an earlier stay. The Chief Justice and Justice Vivek Jain issued a directive to complete the recruitment procedure within three months.

Recruitment was initially put on hold after the Advocate Union for Democracy and Social Justice filed a challenge. Lawyers for the petitioners contended that the recruitment process ran contrary to specified laws. An important claim regarding the recruitment was that no backlog could be permitted in the unreserved category as per existing regulations.

Significant questions were also brought up about how the preliminary assessment scores were used afterward. The law requires shortlisting candidates for selection in the ratio of three for each open position. Nevertheless, the concerned petitions alleged this was not carried out accurately. The petitioners argued that qualified candidates from reserved categories were not considered for appointment under the unreserved category.

At the request of the petitioners, the Madhya Pradesh High Court had halted the recruitment process. 138 positions were initially made available through the November 17 notification, with 6 reserve positions for candidates with disabilities. The advertised vacancies were divided into unreserved, SC, ST, OBC, and backlog categories.

After the stay was revoked, the Madhya Pradesh High Court ordered the authorities to finish the recruitment in three months while adhering to all applicable laws and guidelines. The order allows the much-anticipated process of hiring candidates to proceed.
