It is on May 17 that Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah is slated to inaugurate the platinum jubilee celebrations of the Karnataka Small Scale Industries Association (KASSIA). The venue of the event is at the Gnana Jyothi Auditorium in Bengaluru, and this is a significant step in the 75-year journey of KASSIA to promote micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in the state.

During a press conference, the President of KASSIA, M.G. Rajagopal, announced that the Chief Minister Siddaramaiah will also unveil the official platinum jubilee logo and launch a couple of other critical digital initiatives. These are: B2B portal, the Udyog portal, and an e-commerce platform targeted at augmenting the digital potential of small-scale industries in Karnataka.

A broad set of stakeholders will attend the platinum jubilee celebrations, including the best MSME units, leaders in business, government officials, and central as well as state-level policy makers. Among the dignitaries who will turn up are the deputy chief minister D.K. Shivakumar, the small-scale industries minister Sharanabasappa Darshanapur, Challakere MLA and chairman of the Karnataka state small industries development board, T. Raghu Murthy, and Govindarajanagar MLA Priya

Founded in 1949 by a fighter for liberty, R.S. Aradhya, the person who chaired the organization for 18 years as a founding president, KASSIA has been significant in promoting and progressing the interests of the MSME sector in the state of Karnataka. In the past decades, the association has played a great role in the growth of industries, the creation of employment, and innovation.

KASSIA, according to Rajagopal, now has more than 13000 direct members and 132 associations affiliated to it, namely from the sector of manufacturing. He also noted that Karnataka’s MSME sector accounts for about 2.2% to the GDP of the country, which is an illustration of its role in the overall economy.
