Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan will visit Chhattisgarh on May 13th. While out on his visit to Chhattisgarh, he will be in Sarguja and is scheduled to conduct a major publicity rally in Ambikapur. At the event, it is expected that Chouhan will announce that 3.5 lakh houses will be allotted under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) to residents of the state. Collocated with the scheme of housing, there are a variety of new development plans for the Sarguja division that are likely to be unveiled during this visit.

Together with the main participants and Shivraj Singh, there were also other top state officials such as Chief Minister Vishnudev Sai, Deputy Chief Ministers Vijay Sharma and Arun Sao, as well as several state ministers and Members of Parliament. It is clear that the presence of these top state leaders reflects on the significance of the developments Chouhan is going to put forth during his visit.

Already in an important and timely manner, the state government has made moves to improve civil defence arrangements across Chhattisgarh post the recently concluded “Operation Sindoor”. According to this plan, nine cities will get Civil Defence Districts: The cities will be Raipur, Korba, Raigarh, Bilaspur, Jagdalpur, Ambikapur, Janjgir-Champa and Dhamtari.

The program will induct and inductively train 2,700 volunteers evenly across the nine districts, with 300 volunteers in each district. The volunteers will undergo rigorous two-day training-rich in civil defence responsibilities and the skills they can use to respond effectively to crisis situations that resemble wartime. The aim is to form an efficient civil policing team to support the citizens and security personnel at vital moments.

This step is considered a valuable step forward in terms of preparing the state for emergencies that are natural or man-made.
