Powerful explosions were reported early Saturday, 10 May, across multiple Pakistani air bases, including a critical installation near the capital Islamabad.
The incident prompted the Pakistani government to shut down the country's airspace to all civilian and commercial flights.
According to the Pakistani military, the blasts occurred at three air force installations: Nur Khan in Rawalpindi, Murid in Chakwal, and Rafiqui in the Jhang district of eastern Punjab province.
Between Friday and Saturday, 9-10 May, several border areas- including Srinagar's airport area, Samba, Jammu city and Baramulla in Jammu and Kashmir, Pathankot and Ferozepur in Punjab and Barner in Rajasthan reported blackouts.
Heavy shelling by Pakistan in the Rajouri district of Kashmir led to the deaths of Rajouri’s Additional District Commissioner, Raj Kumar Thappa, and two other civilians.
