IPL 2025 Suspended amid India-Pakistan tensions

The Indian Premier League was indefinitely suspended on Friday, 9 May, due to escalating tensions between India and Pakistan.

The match between Punjab kings and Delhi Capitals was cancelled midway following air raid alerts in Jammu and Pathankot, raising concerns about the future of the league.

The IPL spectacle came to a screeching halt in Dharmshala on Thursday, 8 May, forcing the league's administrators to pause and review the escalating military tensions between India and Pakistan.

Punjab side were 122 for 1 in 10.1 over when the lights went out, initially attributed to flood light failure. The game had already started later than scheduled due to rain.

Eventually, both teams and the assembled fans were evacuated from the stadium for their security.

“All players are back at the hotel under heavy security and are waiting for BCCI's decision,” said the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association.

BCCI officials stated, "It doesn't look nice that cricket goes on while the country is at war."
