A wave of unease has gripped Jaisalmer, Rajasthan, following reports of loud explosions echoing through the city overnight, coinciding with alleged missile and drone strikes by Pakistan targeting military installations within the state. This morning, the discovery of a mysterious, bomb-like object in Kishan Ghat has further heightened anxieties among local residents.
According to the local cops, the object resembled parts of a drone that was launched by Pakistan on Jaisalmer on Thursday night around 10.30 pm. However, official confirmation is awaited. “It it currently not known if it is live or destroyed,” Kotwali SHO Prem Daan told media.
Villagers in Kishan Ghat stumbled upon the unidentified object outside their homes, triggering immediate alarm and prompting swift action from local authorities. Chandan, a resident of the village, recounted the tense night, stating, “We could hear the siren all night. Around 9 pm, all we could see were sparks and objects falling from the sky. We heard a loud sound that appeared to have come from outside the house but were too scared to leave. As we came out of our house this morning, we found this bomb-like object.”
Echoing Chandan’s apprehension, his neighbor Mukesh described the villagers’ response: “The villagers immediately alerted the police, who in return informed the army.” He further added, “The army men arrived 30 minutes later. They cordoned off the area and asked us not to touch it.” The prompt response of the authorities and the army underscores the seriousness with which the discovery is being treated, especially in the context of the reported cross-border strikes. The area remains cordoned off as experts are likely assessing the nature of the object and its potential connection to the overnight explosions. This incident has instilled a sense of fear and uncertainty among the villagers, who are now grappling with the implications of the escalating tensions and their proximity to potential military targets.
