Chandigarh: An air warning has been sounded in Chandigarh and the administration has urged residents to stay indoors.
“An Air warning has been received from Air force station of possible attack. Sirens are being sounded. All are advised to remain indoors and away from balconies,” a message from DC Chandigarh says.
A day after cancelling all leaves for Punjab Police personnel, the state government has also directed health staff to remain at their parent stations and refrain from taking leave without prior permission from district headquarters.
Following recent escalations, district health administrations are on high alert. Orders have been issued mandating all health personnel—doctors, nurses, and paramedics—to be prepared for any emergencies. A key focus is ensuring the immediate availability of essential medical resources, including medicines, first aid supplies, and necessary equipment across all health facilities.
Furthermore, district administrations are actively compiling comprehensive lists of both public and private healthcare institutions. Crucially, they are tasked with guaranteeing sufficient blood reserves within blood banks and maintaining an up-to-date inventory of blood availability to address any urgent requirements. These proactive measures aim to ensure a swift and effective response to potential health crises arising from the current situation.
Meanwhile, the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER) has launched a campaign to establish an Emergency Blood Reserve and urged people to come forward and donate blood as a powerful and united act of defiance against terrorism.
