United Nations, New York: India has strongly condemned Pakistan at the United Nations, labeling it a “rogue state” in the aftermath of the deadly terror attack in Pahalgam that claimed the lives of 26 individuals. The denouncement came during a session where India’s representative highlighted Pakistani Defence Minister Khwaja Asif’s recent “open confession” to his nation’s long history of training and funding terrorist organizations.
Speaking at the UN, India’s Deputy Permanent Representative, Yojna Patel, asserted that Asif’s admission in a recent interview was not surprising and unequivocally exposed Pakistan as a state that actively fuels global terrorism and destabilizes the region. Patel emphasized that the international community could no longer afford to ignore Pakistan’s role in fostering cross-border terrorism.
“The whole world has heard Pakistan’s Defence Minister Khwaja Asif admitting and confessing Pakistan’s history of supporting, training, and funding terrorist organizations,” 1 Patel stated, referencing the television interview. “This open confession surprises no one and exposes Pakistan as a rogue state fueling global terrorism and destabilizing the region.”
Patel also drew attention to the Pahalgam attack, noting that it represented the highest number of civilian casualties in a single terror incident in Kashmir since the 2008 Mumbai attacks. She reiterated India’s long-standing experience as a victim of cross-border terrorism and expressed gratitude for the international support received in the wake of the Pahalgam tragedy.
India’s strong words at the UN underscore the escalating tensions between the two neighboring nations following the terror attack. The focus on the Pakistani defense minister’s admission is seen as a significant diplomatic move to further isolate Pakistan on the global stage regarding its role in terrorism.
