Bhopal: Under the leadership of Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav, the Madhya Pradesh government has taken a big step forward in building health care and emergency services for the state. The government will now grant deceased individuals the benefit of a hearse van to ferry the deceased from hospitals to their homes. Initially, this service will be rolled out at the district level, and subsequently at the block and tehsil levels, to help assure postmortem and funeral transport arrangements of a dignified and easily accessible nature in the state.

Speaking at a health department review meeting held on Tuesday at the state secretariat, CM Yadav stressed resolving public health problems through organized health camps on a regular basis. He directed officials to put critical patients, including those suffering from life-threatening diseases such as cancer, on priority with the necessary treatment. He also urged promoting organ donation throughout the state.

CM Mohan Yadav also highlighted the government’s vision to improve the healthcare infrastructure, and it has been established that the new medical colleges will be set up in the PPP model to make better quality medical facilities available to the citizens.

The expansion of the state’s air ambulance service was another key theme of the meeting. Amongst a handful of other States, Madhya Pradesh at present is the only State in India that provides an ambulance for air servicing of patients. There is an existing fleet that includes one helicopter and one airplane, and they are planning to make these services more available. The emergency medical transport to seriously injured people at accident sites is a concern for the government, and it is intended to provide this within the shortest possible time. It will be done in a way that doctors and district collectors will jointly decide.

As with any state or region, there will be different zones across the state to better deploy air ambulance sites to meet future healthcare needs. It is to ensure that even the poorest citizens get advanced emergency healthcare, as the state government reaffirms its commitment to providing inclusive medical support.
