Akshay Kumar starrer latest Bollywood courtroom-drama Kesari Chapter 2: The Untold Story Of Jallianwala Bagh has been maintaining a decent hold at the box office so far. Even though the Karan Singh Tyagi directorial is yet to make a mark at the box office, the movie has been receiving rave reviews from all across the world. Amidst decent pre-release buzz, Kesari Chapter 2, bankrolled by Karan Johar under his production house Dharma Productions, had its grand theatrical release worldwide on April 18 and opened to positive reviews from fans and critics alike. However, the positive word-of-mouth is yet to get reflected in its box office earnings.
From Monday, Kesari 2 has been witnessing a massive dip in its box office collections, while on Tuesday, day five, the Akshay Kumar starrer saw a very small spike; it only managed to earn another Rs 4.75 crore. On Tuesday, the total net domestic collection for Kesari 2 stood at Rs 38.75 crore, according to industry tracker.
Meanwhile, actor Sunny Deol’s ‘Jaat’ has entered the benchmark of Rs 100 crore nett at the box office. After its 13-day run, the film has neared Rs 80 crore nett. The Gopichand Malineni directorial collected Rs 2 crore nett on its second Tuesday, taking the collection to Rs 78.25 crore nett, reported the trade website Sacnilk.
‘Jaat’ has seen a visible drop in its collection in the second week. However, that was expected considering ‘Kesari Chapter 2’ hit the screens last weekend, and took over the theatres with positive reviews.
