Bhopal: Dr. Mohan Yadav, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister, visited the sacred Ramghat on the banks of the Shipra River in Ujjain on Monday, where he also participated in the ongoing Jal Ganga Sanvardhan Abhiyan. During the campaign, he has actively participated in cleaning the ghat area and took a holy dip in the Shipra River to clean the river. The Chief Minister, Mohan Yadav, took to the media on his visit and drew attention to the Panchkoshi Parikrama, an ancient custom observed by thousands of devotees each year. At the onset of such pilgrimages, he stressed the necessity of cleanliness and purity of the water. “The surrounding water and surroundings of the Shipra must be clean whenever devotees start the Panchkoshi Parikrama by taking a bath in the Shipra. It is not merely a matter of faith; it is also a matter of responsibility,” he said.

Pointing out, one of the key reasons for the Jal Ganga Sanvardhan Abhiyan, which was launched in March, is to end the waste collected in the river and continue to conserve water sustainably. “I took a healthy dip with devotion towards Maa Shipra and did service work here. Such rivers have to be preserved, it’s our collective duty,” he said.

While flagging off the Panchkoshi Yatra on pilgrimage for the pilgrims who had arrived from Salamatpur, he took note of this occasion. He also paid a gesture of appreciation to the Ujjain Municipal Corporation sanitation workers for working hard in keeping the area clean. He also congratulated the Mahakal Police Station for coming alive with the ISO and presented the Station with a commendation certificate.
