Speaking on Friday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi revisited key topics that he and Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk discussed during their meeting in Washington, DC earlier this year, when he revealed that he had spoken to Musk. Dialogue was on the lines of expanding cooperation in technology and innovation; India’s determination to bolster ties with global tech leaders was highlighted.
“Spoke to Elon Musk and talked about various issues, including the topics we covered during our meeting in Washington, DC earlier this year,” Modi wrote on X (formerly Twitter). “We talked about how Technology and Innovation were abundant areas for collaboration. These partnerships with the US in these domains are something that we have continued to do in India.”
Musk’s interaction with the Prime Minister reflects India’s firm stance as a nation that has emerged as a global hub for innovation, with a special focus on space, electric mobility, artificial intelligence, and renewable energy, which are products and services of Musk’s companies worldwide.
Elon Musk met Modi first time in February during his two-day official visit to the United States. That was a meeting at Blair House, the official U.S. President’s guest residence, where Musk brought along his three children. They covered a range of future-forward topics, including India’s rapidly growing EV ecosystem, and the possibility for Tesla to make a manufacturing presence in India.
After that meeting, Modi also had his meeting with Trudeau posted on Twitter, saying that the conversation revolved around space exploration, technology, mobility and innovation. The dealings between the Indian Prime Minister and the tech billionaire suggest a growing search for strategic alliances that will launch the next wave of growing technological strength around the world.
These high-level conversations going forward can lead to the onset of some of the most groundbreaking collaborations India has to offer in the global tech arena.
