Just like how they had ended 2024, Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) have got off to an attacking start to their IPL 2025 campaign. SRH, who usually boast of explosive batting, have exploded in winning ways, piling on the Rajasthan Royals recently with a mammoth 286/6, their second highest in IPL history. The team has players with an abundance of power and is powered by Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma, and Heinrich Klaasen. SRH is making itself a frontrunner to breach the 300-run mark in T20 cricket, and Dale Steyn has made a prediction.

Interestingly, former South African speedster and ex-SRH bowling coach Dale Steyn reckons that the 300-run milestone is just around the corner, and he has named a date for it. Batsman Steyn took to social media and said that SRH will become the first team to score a 300-run total in IPL history when they meet Mumbai Indians (MI) at the Wankhede Stadium on April 17. “Small prediction. The first 300 in IPL will be seen on April 17. I’d love to be there to see it happen,” Steyn tweeted.

It’s not completely out of the blue, so to speak. When SRH last came face-to-face with these two teams in Mumbai, Head, Sharma, and Klaasen took a six-hitting storm till 281 for 3 with 17 sixes. MI tried their best but could not chase it down and fell short by 31 runs.

When a fan asked, “What if MI decide to bat first?”, Steyn laughed it off, saying, “Haha!”. Acknowledging that the prediction can go offside, but still clearly backing SRH as the team most likely to write history with it.

Steyn’s prediction seems based on the kind of firepower SRH have shown in the recent season. Now, April 17 at Wankhede will be a date with history for the IPL.
