Just hours after a fire broke out in the hospital on Monday night, the Outpatient Department (OPD) services at Lok Bandhu Hospital in Lucknow resumed on Tuesday morning. OPD services have resumed, as confirmed by Hospital Director Dr. Sangeeta Gupta. Here are all OPD doctors who are present to attend to the patients.”

The blaze also struck the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and three other wards, forcing predicate authorities to quickly remove patients to medical facilities elsewhere. Most of the patients were referred to the Civil Hospital in Lucknow to get continuous treatment on safe lines.

A total of 24 patients have been sent to the facility of Dr. Rajesh Srivastava, Director of Civil Hospital, they informed. “Two patients were serious, and they’ve been admitted to the ICU of out of the 24 patients.” He stated: “The remaining patients are stable and getting treatment. Sadly, one patient also died of unknown causes, while the patient being transferred died and so was taken to the mortuary for autopsy. A lot of the body has been preserved so we can actually find out the exact cause of death,” Srivastava added.

“The fire department received an alert at 9:44 PM on Monday,” said Chief Fire Officer Mangesh Kumar. “We immediately rushed to the location when we got the information at 9:44 pm.” Everyone was evacuated safely. Kumar informed that the cause of the fire is still under investigation.

The speedy response from hospital authorities, and in particular, the fire department, helped avoid further casualties. The fire obviously caused tremendous disruption while the hospital is restoring to normal operation, and further assessments are underway to establish the damage and cause.
