There is a danger of extreme heat in Delhi from Monday (7 April) to Saturday. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow heat wave alert for Delhi. The sky is expected to be clear on Monday with a heat wave. The maximum temperature is expected to be around 41 degrees Celsius, and the minimum temperature around 21 degrees Celsius. The Meteorological Department has predicted heat wave in Delhi for the next two days.

According to the Meteorological Department, the effect of the heat wave will continue till Wednesday. The temperature will increase rapidly due to the strong sunlight in the morning. People have been advised to avoid going out and drink adequate amounts of water. The department said that six states, including Delhi, Haryana, and Uttar Pradesh, will feel the heat wave for the next four to five days.

The heat wave is also expected in some places in the hilly state of Himachal Pradesh on Monday. Heat wave is expected in Madhya Pradesh from Tuesday to Thursday. However, the weather in Northeast India will be completely opposite and light or moderate rain may occur with thunder, lightning and strong winds. According to the Meteorological Department, the effect of heat wave will remain till Wednesday. The temperature will increase rapidly due to the strong sunlight in the morning. People have been advised to avoid going out and consume adequate water. The department has informed that the effect of heat wave will be experienced in six states, including Delhi, Haryana,and Uttar Pradesh for the next four to five days.

Take necessary precautions to avoid heat stroke

Experts of the Meteorological Department have advised Delhi residents to avoid going out of the house between 12 noon and 4 pm. During this time, try to drink as much water as possible. It would be better to wear light colored cotton clothes. Whenever you go out, use goggles, an umbrella, a hat, and proper shoes. Consumption of tea, coffee, carbonated drinks, and alcohol should be avoided.

According to the IMD, the maximum temperature in Delhi on Sunday (April 6) was recorded at 38.2 degrees Celsius, which is 3.1 degrees above the seasonal average. At the same time, the minimum temperature of the national capital was 18.5 degrees Celsius, which is 1.5 degrees below the seasonal average. During this time, the relative humidity was measured between 43 percent and 27 percent.

The maximum temperature is likely to increase by two to four degrees Celsius in various areas of central and northwest India in the next four days, the department has said. The maximum temperature in Delhi is expected to be between 40 to 42 degrees Celsius, while the minimum temperature will be around 20 to 22 degrees Celsius. Meanwhile, the temperature in Barmer, Rajasthan, reached 45.6 degrees Celsius, 6.8 degrees above normal.

The six-day forecast issued by the India Meteorological Department (IMD) states that heatwave conditions will continue in the national capital, and the maximum temperature is likely to remain between 39 and 42 degrees Celsius. According to the Air Quality Index (AQI), a level between 0-50 is ‘good’, 51-100 ‘satisfactory’, 101-200 ‘moderate’, 201-300 ‘poor’, 301-400 ‘very poor’ and 401-500 ‘severe’.
