The Punjab Kings (PBKS) will attempt to maintain their invincible start to the Indian Premier League 2025 season when they play their first home game in the newly designated Mullanpur stadium. Confident of victory, the Kings have so far had one of their standout teams, a top-order firing on every cylinder, a squad showing good depth and balance. Solid starts from Prabhsimran Singh and Priyansh Arya, who played for the highly sought-after auction pick, have justified the franchise’s faith in him. Captain Shreyas Iyer has been one of the most in-form strokes off this season, leading from the front with the bat and toning down the batting tempo with class and control.

However, the Rajasthan Royals (RR), who are in the midst of momentum building, will be eyeing delivering a win of sorts in Guwahati against Chennai Super Kings after a much-needed one. That win forced the duo to recover from two early defeats in a period which can remind fans of their potential should all the departments work together.

Still, inconsistency remains a concern. Much of their success hinges on the performances of their Indian top order, particularly Sanju Samson and Yashasvi Jaiswal. Jaiswal has been a point of worry for the Royals; both players have been underwhelming so far. He hopes to find form soon to make India’s white-ball squads.

Returning from a brief absence, Riyan Parag is deputised in the wicketkeeping and captaincy duties by Sanju Samson. RR will need their captain and batting form to stage a comeback in the tournament if he is at the helm. The battle ahead of two sides who seem set up differently and without the fear of either advancing or bowing out early looks intriguing, as does the battle of how both sides are travelling with their collective and individual form.
