Four persons dead, 11 injured as bus collides with brick-laden tractor-trolley in Punjab’s Jalandhar district. The accident took place on the Jalandhar-Pathankot highway near the Kala Bakra area, when the bus heading from Rajasthan to Jammu collided with the tractor trolley coming suddenly into the highway from the road of a village.
The bus driver, along with a passenger, died on the spot, two more passengers died in the hospital, police reports said. They have rushed all the injured to a nearby hospital where they are being treated.
Chief Minister Expresses Grief
Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann expressed deep sorrow over the tragic accident and he condoled the bereaved families.
Mann, who posted on X (the former Twitter) writes: “We offer our condolences to the families of those who lost their life and our wish for a fast recovery of the injured.”
In the communique, he also commended the efforts of the Punjab Police’s ‘Sadak Surakhya Force’ (Road Safety Force) for its prompt response in helping the injured and procuring swift medical attention.
Road Safety Concerns in Punjab
Again, the incidence brings to the fore the problem of dangerous high highways of Punjab where accidents involving heavy vehicles, rash and heedless driving, and bad condition of roads are hitting heads. The accident will be investigated by authorities who are expected to take the necessary steps to prevent such tragedies in future.
Residents and travellers are requested to take extra care when driving on the highways and follow road safety rules to avoid any further mishaps.
