Positive results also continue to be seen in Chhattisgarh rehabilitation and anti-Naxal campaigns happening, with yet other big surrender. A Naxal couple with a total bounty of ₹20 lakh has surrendered before the police. DVCM Dinesh Modiyam, both of them are Most Wanted Naxal leader, were both involved in several major violence incidents of Naxalites, and their names are among the list of the accused.
There were many reasons why the couple abandoned the extremist ideology. They grew disillusioned of the Naxalite movement, started experiencing internal conflicts within the organization, were getting frustrated at the amount of no where progress they were achieving. They decided to surrender and take up their future.
They are potentially a major blow to the Naxalite network in the area. Because of their deep involvement in planning and execution of attacks, their exit is expected to hamper multiple operational strategies of the extremist outfit. Both sides agreed the state’s rehabilitation program was important to their decision, since they could break out of the cycle of violence.
Through its surrender and rehabilitation policy, the Chhattisgarh government has been all too eager to bring Naxal cadre under the pallet of surrender and mainstream integration. Police officials have reassured that they will help the surrendered ones restore their lives.
However, the state will take away the influence of extremists in battlefront and social integration and bring back peace to the areas hit by the Naxals. This successful surrender is a strong message to the rest of the movement as there is a way out of violence and a possible alternative to a better future.
