Waqf Amendment Bill: All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB) has made a big announcement against the Waqf Amendment Bill. AIMPLB will protest against the Waqf Amendment Bill on March 10 across the country including Jantar Mantar in Delhi. The board called the bill a conspiracy to eliminate Waqf properties and rejected it and said that we will protest across the country. Through this protest, an attempt will be made to put pressure on the central government so that this bill is withdrawn. AIMPLB has also appealed to opposition parties and civil society to join this protest.

According to AIMPLB, to make this protest more effective, demonstrations will be held in other cities besides Delhi. On March 7, large-scale protests will be held in front of the Vidhan Sabha in Vijayawada and Patna of Andhra Pradesh against the Wakf Amendment Bill. The board said that this movement would continue until the government withdrew this bill.

AIMPLB spokesperson Dr. Syed Qasim Rasool Ilyas said that the Muslim Personal Law Board, different Muslim organizations and the Muslim community have lodged their protest with the Central Government and the Joint Parliamentary Committee on several occasions. He said that this Waqf Amendment Bill introduced by the government is a conspiracy to usurp and destroy Waqf properties, which should be withdrawn immediately. He alleged that this bill has been brought with the aim of weakening the religious and social properties of the minorities.

Dr. Ilyas said that apart from the top leadership of the Muslim Personal Law Board, central leaders of all major religious and national organizations will be present in this protest. The board also clarified that this protest will not be limited to the Muslim community only but social and political leadership of Dalit, tribal, OBC society as well as religious leaders of Sikh and Christian communities will also participate in it.

The spokesperson of AIMPLB further said that now that the government is going to introduce this bill in the Parliament, the Executive Council of the Board has decided that a dharna will be held on March 10 at Jantar Mantar in Delhi to make the government and political parties aware of this issue and to register protest. He said that this demonstration would be completely peaceful and that its purpose was to make the government aware of the concerns of the minority community.
